PART II

The multifaceted applications of UAVs in our everyday lives are the cause of their popularity today. Whether it is to handle a task that is deemed too dangerous for humans or whether it lowers human labor, drones have gone a long way. New inventive methods of utilizing them have come up and are taking the world by storm.

The most prevalent usages of drones nowadays are for:

o Agriculture: Drones employ the task of monitoring crop health, surveilling them for pest infestations, and spraying pesticides and nutrients. They gather data over long periods of time and analyze trends in crop growth, thereby increasing one’s yield and cost-effectiveness.

o Mapping: Drones can be programmed to capture accurate images of large terrains and make three-dimensional maps and models. They can measure the distance and elevation of objects using laser beams, which can create detailed and realistic representations of the surface. Their ability to travel through unhospitable terrain is newsworthy and has been used for scientific research as well. LIDAR sensors are highly significant for this implication.

o Delivery: Delivering goods over long distances using drones is one of the most economical options out there. They avoid traffic congestion and best of all, reduce carbon emissions. Drones have been specially employed for this purpose in disaster-stricken areas for first aid and human relief.

o Surveillance: Their swift movements and ability to hover at great altitudes to keep off sight are a major win for surveillance. The military, law enforcement, and border patrol make use of them too. By improving situational awareness, they lower the danger and create a safer environment. Equipped with cameras, microphones, thermal imaging, night vision, radar, GPS, facial recognition, biometric scanning, and weapons, they can do much more than anticipated.

o Entertainment: Best of all, drones are used for entertainment purposes such as cinematography, photography, gaming, and art. Their ability to perform acrobatic stunts, do light shows, and capture 360-degree videos has made this industry boom. Drones can also create captivating and engaging experiences for the audience using VR and AR tech. They can also overlay digital information or graphics on the real world using AR devices and applications.

Unusual ways of using this technology could be used by:

o Firefighters to analyze the setting and intensity of the fire. Drones can weave through disastrous heat to locate a living body, lightening the workload of the firefighters. Further, they can spray water or foam on fires when prompted.

o Marketing experts to creatively draw consumers from wherever by broadcasting banners and messages in the sky. Coupons have also been dropped from great heights for commercialization- it's efficient.

o Mobile cellular base stations to provide connectivity to isolated areas that have faced natural calamities. They act as aerial antennas that can transmit and receive signals from electronic devices.

In what other ways do you think drones could be employed to help mankind?
