I’ll be the first to admit that the simulation theory for human existence sounds a little far fetched. Experts such as Elon Mus have openly stated support for it but it just seems so wild to me.

That being said, it is one of the most fascinating theories to examine.

What is Simulation Theory?

Given the rise of virtual reality in recent years, this argument has made larger waves than normal. For a quick idea, think of the Matrix. That’s basically what this theory thinks about society, minus the killer robots. I hope.

An incredibly advanced civilization with remarkably powerful computers has created our world for some unknown reason.

Fascinatingly enough, if this is true then all the stars you see in the sky aren’t reachable, and nothing beyond the Milky Way is, possibly.

As pointed out in this helpful video, there are five assumptions that must be true for the simulation theory to be proved:

  • It is possible to simulate consciousness
  • Technological progress will not stop anytime soon
