Stunning Photos Of Extinct Animals Created By AI
Unfortunately, there have been many interesting animals that have gone extinct before the invention of photography.
I thought it would be interesting to use a text-to-image AI generator to reimagine what some of those extinct animals may have looked like. Since we don’t have any photos of most of these animals listed here, I suspect the AI models are drawing from a combination of illustrations, sketches, and similar animal likenesses.
Steller’s Sea Cow
Discovered in 1741 by German naturalist Georg W. Steller, Steller’s sea cows once inhabited the near-shore areas of the Komandor Islands in the Bering Sea. The species was exterminated by 1768, less than 30 years after it was first discovered.
Dodo
Discovered around 1507, The dodo is an extinct flightless bird that was endemic to the island of Mauritius, which is east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.
