The Future Isn’t What It Used to Be

When thinking about the future, certain words inevitably pop up, such as “progress,” “advancements,” and “improvements.” That is to say, the primary association is generally with things moving in a better direction. And while there’s no arguing that we’ve made some incredible advancements in recent years, there is a growing feeling among many that some of these advancements are actually setbacks.

Whether it’s AI, subscription models, or “smart” products, consumers are mixed about how much “progress” modern-day technology is truly bringing them.

While there’s no arguing that Generative AI and tools like ChatGPT are highly effective at streamlining tasks and providing information that previously took hours or longer to find, there are some obvious downsides as well. From AI’s effect on jobs and the environment, to its contribution to a massive amount of misinformation, consumer sentiment is mixed and trending downwards
