Imagine a world where you come home from school or work and hop into a virtual reality rig, entering a fabricated world with millions of other users.

This was the base plot for the 2018 film, Ready Player One. Ironically enough, it almost seems like a more positive spin on the blockbuster hit film, The Matrix.

While a world like this may seem far fetched, it’s closer than we all think. Virtual reality rigs already exist for public use, in fact, I will be testing one out in a few short weeks at Realm VR.

These full-motion rigs work by strapping you in at the waist. With lumbar and movement support, these impressive pieces of technology let you experience truly immersive Virtual Reality.

A trackpad lies beneath users’ feet allowing them the freedom to walk or run, depending on their choice of game. Currently, this technology is being used and sold to the commercial field, but it won’t be long before the cost is reduced enough for personal use in homes.

These systems have the potential to change various aspects of the world.

Military Use

Various world militaries are beginning to introduce virtual reality systems into their infantry training regimens. Utilizing artificial intelligence bots, officials hope to better prepare soldiers…
