The future of computers is biological. Stated differently, in the future computers will be biological in nature rather than digital (or non-biological analog).

I think we’ll find the truth of this is obvious once we put all the Signals together. In other words, we’re going to analyze at the level of a Change Element. I feel we can better grasp the scope and trends at this level of resolution.

The common term in the literature is biodigital computing.

The trigger for this was a few weeks ago when I analyzed a Signal related to artificial photosynthesis and the use of protein crystals in bacteria. My analysis was based on a study which caught my eye. In the end, I foresaw a transformative shift in both biotechnology and computational science that seemed to point towards new frontiers in understanding life’s complexity and harnessing it for unprecedented computational applications.

Now, I’ve had a deep interest in using biologicals for computation since early in my scholarly career. Consequently, I have been collecting research and various mainstream Signals for a long time.
