Can AI be creative in fields beyond drawing and writing? Let’s consider two more fields where ‘artistic’ AI is causing waves.

Beyond the obvious

In the first part of this — thus far — duology, we considered the creative use of AI, as well as the possibility of creative AI, in two fields where artificial intelligence/machine learning has already been making great progress: image recognition, and text manipulation.

Creativity, however, is not at all limited to these two means of expression. Creativity is not limited to any means of expression. It is the capacity the develop and express original ideas in any medium, the ability to recombine existing ideas into a novel composition.

But lest we get ahead of ourselves, let’s see how (creative) AI fares in two more fields, beyond drawing and writing, which are two visual modes of expression. How creative do we consider AI to potentially be when we close our eyes and use our other senses?
