As most of you probably know, black holes are just what the name states. Black holes in space suck everything they run into or rather what runs into them, But what are they really? What causes them and what happens to the stuff that gets sucked up by black holes? Find out in this article.

What is a black hole? A black hole is a region in spacetime where gravity is so strong nothing can escape it. Not even light. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole.

What causes black holes? Stars cause black holes. When a star reaches the end of its life, it can do one of three things. It can either explode into a supernova, slowly and silently fade away or imploding and collapsing on itself forming a dangerous black hole.

What happens to stuff that gets sucked up by black holes? According to the conservation of mass theory, matter cannot be created nor destroyed, so what happens to it? Well since it can’t be destroyed there is really only one other reasonable answer, the matter gets changed.
