Creativity is boldness. It makes the normal unique. The ordinary different. It breaks through the noise. It sparks our imagination. It is the opposite of predictability. The more we automate the more creativity will be valued.

Creativity is the process of seeing a thing in a different way. It is a skill and a capability that can be learnt. Successful businesses generally build a culture that supports creativity and the processes around it. Creative businesses are often more innovative and adaptable. Companies with a strong creative culture are 3.5 times more likely to outperform their peers in terms of revenue growth. Creative businesses are more resilient to economic downturns. Creative businesses outperformed those around them and the economy during the GFC.

So the stats add up. Businesses therefore should establish and encourage their teams to speak up, speak out and not be fearful of sharing ideas. Creativity is a mindset of openness and adaptability. Creativity often means going against the status quo, it involves putting yourself out there.

Putting this into practice
