zurzuvae: can virtual reality display the arrays of [postpartum] depression?
There is a recent story on Reuters, Biogen-Sage Therapeutics postpartum depression pill priced at $15,900, stating that, “Sage Therapeutics has priced the oral postpartum depression (PPD) pill, [Zurzuvae (zuranolone)] it developed with partner Biogen at $15,900 for a full 14-day course of treatment.”
The problem of depression continues to confound psychiatry and the new pill, for the postpartum condition, is a path forward.
In seeking out depression in the brain, what, conceptually, are its key operative elements?
Electrical and chemical impulses of nerve cells.
It is theorized that in clusters of neurons, in any circuit, electrical and chemical impulses interact as sets, or in loops.
These loops form arrays within the clusters and without.
Depression is hypothesized to be a particular array of sets of impulses, where some are to extremes [across directions] resulting in [bundles of] heaviness or other indicators.
Conceptually, sets or loops of chemical impulses have a feature called formations or configurations, with measures or rations that determine experiences.
Simply, formations [of sets of impulses] shape how internal and external senses get defined or interpreted by the brain.
Sets of impulses often distribute their formations to others. The pattern [or direction] of distribution often leads to an arrangement or arrays, for how formations relay.
There are modeled arrays forming near-rigid [formation transmission] paths. There are empty fields, where sets have latitudes, resulting in freeway arrays.
Theoretically, major depression often uses skeletal arrays, where sets settle into, resulting in the symptoms. Mild depression is often kicked off by a set or a few, settling into an array that is similar to — the one for major depression.
Other features of sets of impulses, aside arrays also contribute.
Arrays are also a factor in other states.
For example, sleep is proposed to be an array, where some loops [providing the molecules, adenosine and melatonin] distribute to other formations, prompting an array that results in sleep.
This arrangement limits the features of sets [of impulses] that are included, making them unable to process some senses as they would when an individual is awake.
Sleep is an array, making sleeplessness — also — a deviation from it, aside timing, comfort, light, sound, or others. They may be present but a loop could be out of place, stimulating sleeplessness or partial sleep.
Like sleep, a mild depression may result from some sets or loops, whose formation lead a freeway array into the experience. A major depression, of unknown cause, could be the settling into a skeletal array, for loops of impulses. For deep dreamless sleep, consciousness is less present, as the arrays are in place, for depression, consciousness of it is there, making it experienced in awareness.
In a depression, there are several other features of sets of impulses at play, including early-splits or go-before, sequences, pre-/prioritization, loop rotation, ration alternation and principal spot.
Virtual reality can be used to display these conceptual arrays of sets of impulses, for how they result in a major depression. It can also be used to explore other features of sets of impulses to understand what might be happening and how [or what] therapies may apply.
When some use certain habits or addictions to taper depression, it is also to breakout a set or some from the array, or to have a set or some kick start a counter [or substitutive] array, for alternative experiences.
Usually, formations have measures of chemical impulses, for completeness of the information or experience. This means that in the brain, chemical impulses [from different synapses] make contributions in sets, where functions are defined.
Degree of experiences may depend on the ratio of respective impulses, with some regular via average ratios, or intense with spikes of one [or some] over others.
Depression, with a cause, could be the latter, where the formation is so askew, that its distribution induces other loops to get into an array that results in the experience.
This concept may become an option against this mental health problem, away from having it as an unknown.
There are people with major depression, where what they thought they liked and would help did not [break the array]. A key application of this potential VR display is to be aware, so that when it seems the array is falling into place, alternatives can be sought, against allowing it build, lengthening its episodes.
It will also help, when is so much heaviness that may help is ignored.
Several factors can result in depression, but they have to affect impulses.
Impulses are similar to a relay race with different players [genes, situation, environment, sensation and so forth], but the last or anchor leg [impulses] carries the baton to the finish line [or experience].
