LOS ANGELES, Calif. (PREMIUM JARGON) —

A 24-year-old Los Angeles media buyer missed a billing deadline due to an unplanned internet outage. The cause of the outage remains unknown.

IT dispatchers received an emergency-line call shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday from an employee in the 2000 block of Lincoln Blvd. The caller was in distress and stated she was the “victim of an office-invasion robbery”, which later turned out to mean she was viewing the “Unable to connect to the Internet” error page in popular web browser, “Chrome”.

The caller, while still partially crying, told dispatchers that she was “totally clearing invoices for payment” when the submit button failed to process despite her executing a “clicking action”. In the background of the call, another digital media buyer could be heard groaning as he presumably stared at the ceiling, and a media manager sneezed and said “excuse me”.

As the situation grew increasingly dire, the team’s media director came out of her office to suggest “team-building exercises”, as “it should be back to normal after lunch”.

At press time, the digital agency had released two screenshots of “what might be the problem”, and asked for the public’s assistance in tracking down the issue.

If you have any relevant information about this ongoing investigation, you’re urged to contact them and ask why an agency who absolutely cannot do 95% of their work without the internet does not have a better back up plan if the network connection is lost.

IT said they believe this was an isolated incident.
