Rewards are both a way to say thanks and to award your earliest backers. They don’t have to burn a hole in your pocket. Here is a list of 40 rewards you can offer as a publisher.

1. Free ebooks of other titles you want to promote in the same genre. Club genres and promote another book bundled up with a book.

2. If you’ve published another title by the same author, you can offer that as a ebook/audiobook.

3. Personalised stickers (related to the book) that readers can flaunt on their phones/laptops.

4. Book stickers that readers can personalise.

5. Postcards made from quotes from the book that readers can exchange in their bookclub.

6. Signed copies are always cherished by the readers.

7. Personal note from the author to the readers.

8. Art print of the cover of the book.

9. A temporary tattoo set for the reader to flaunt while she is engrossed in reading your book.

10. A mixtape/playlist with the music that author listened to, while writing the book/would think would go well with while reading.

11. Let the backers visit the writers in writers-room visits. Open up the writers room one morning and allow a backer to sit in on the creative process.

12. Put their names in the book. Nothing like the kick of seeing your name published in the book you backed.

13. Access to the writer’s reading list. Which books fuel the writer? What are their top 50 books of all time?

14. Dial-a-backer. Settle in for a 30-minute phone call and share tips on making a book happen — or just listen to a backer tell you about their day.

15. Send seeds to plant along the books. Like the memory of a good book that grows on you. Say thanks by sending seeds that your readers can plant in their garden.

16. Personal recipes by the writer! Writer’s own recipes for that casserole or a cocktail you swear by.

17. Send the unedited, limited-edition first draft to select backers. All with the errors/corrections/typos.

18. Fridge magnets featuring your book cover.

19. Exclusive Q&A sessions. Let your readers ask away their questions and publish your answers on their blog/social media.

20. Cool calendars. Literary calendars that also feature the important dates related to the book.

21. Book bag pouch.

22. Special reading of the book on skype.

23. 8-bit or other cute portraits of your readers.
