How to improve communication within the PRES Scleroderma Working Party?

PReS established working parties for rare pediatric rheumatic diseases, including Scleroderma.

The objective of these Working Parties is to bring together clinical experience, therapeutic trials and research activities and formulate strategies to increase knowledge and perform therapeutic trials. The purpose of these groups is to facilitate communication and collaboration.

Scleroderma Working Party is open to all PRES members (physicians, health professionals) with special interest in scleroderma. We positively encourage patient’s representatives to register and actively participate in all efforts of this working party.

This Sclerodema Working Party is open to any new applicant.

You could register online here: https://goo.gl/forms/7rqmSqUr2FzzJPN32

(If you are already a member, please renew your membership, new and all members should register on the same sheet. Thank you for your kind understanding and collaboration in advance!)

As you can read in the president’s welcome message of PRES Congress 2016, PReS has had an impressive growth during the last two decades. PRES is not just a European scientific society for healthcare professionals in the field of paediatric rheumatology, full membership is extended to individuals from all European countries, whether they are within the EU or not, and also includes countries in the middle east. PRES also welcome members from other parts of the world as associate members to enrich the collective experience and knowledge.

Until now the main communication channel within the Scleroderma Working Party was email lists, which were difficult to maintain and were also difficult to efficiently manage. It was a failure when we tried to reach out members of the WP via emails in many times.

All working parties hold a meeting at the annual PRES congress which is a great opportunity to meet with colleagues face-to-face, but it obviously require personal presence. Attending every PRES meeting in every year might be difficult to manage some of our members. We do not want to miss their valuable opinion, propositions or other active contribution.

Therefore we are continuously seeking other channels to achive a better and more effective communication within the WP.

Communication is the key, our aim to provide quick, easily accessible and free communication platforms to our members.

We are glad to announce that we have already launched 2 new social communication channels.

The first one is a closed Facebook group. ‘Closed’ means you can find our group and see the list of group members, but you couldn’t read posts and comments just if you join the group.

Please join our Facebook group: PRES — SCLERODERMA WORKING PARTY

The second channel is a Journal at Medium, called Journal of PRES-SCLERODERMA WORKING PARTY.

Please follow us on Medium.

Medium is an online publishing platform developed by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams. Publications on Medium are collections of articles like printed or electronical journals and magazines.

To follow a publication, navigate to that publication’s home page. Click on “Follow” and that button will turn green and the label will change to “Following.”

You could also submit your writing to our publication. You have to be invited as a writer, therefore if you would like to publish something please contact with the editors first. Then your submitted work will be reviewed by its editors before being added.

Please consider that Medium is an open platform everybody could see your published pieces, but this meets our original intentions at the Scleroderma WP:

We hope that better communication pathways will facilitate collaborative scleroderma researchers in Europe. Promoting the sharing of knowledge and expertise is our top priority.
