First Social Arts Festival in LATAM: August 2024

The Latin American community will host its first Social Arts Festival, organized by Teoría U en Español with practitioners of social arts in Spanish and Portuguese.

The Festival will run on Thursdays during August, and will highlight an art each week with an international figure hosted by local practitioners.

The first session will be on August 1st, featuring Kelvy Bird and Generative Scribing. Andrea Fernández from Argentina, Geisa Paganini from Brazil, and Reilly Dow from Mexico will host the meeting and lead us in a practice inspired by regional experiences with generative scribing.

August 8th is dedicated to Social Presencing Theater, while Social Poetry’s turn will be on August 15th and the session on Narratives will be on August 22nd . For details on guests and local practitioners for these sessions, follow Teoría U en Español in Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

All sessions meet at 5:00 pm ET via Zoom. A $20 donation is suggested to cover interpretation services in three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

La comunidad de Teoría U en Español celebra su primer Festival de Artes Sociales. Las artes sociales, inspiradas en diversas expresiones artísticas, amplifican nuestra percepción del campo social, la comprensión de la realidad y la exploración del futuro emergente. Todos los jueves de agosto nos encontraremos en Zoom para aprender sobre estas artes con referentes internacionales, y explorar las expresiones en nuestra región con practicantes locales.

Conversaremos sobre lo que aportan a la Teoría U la documentación gráfica generativa, el teatro de presencia social, la poesía social y las nuevas narrativas.
