Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1993)

This past week the United States mourned the loss of one of the most key and innovative supreme court judges since the year 1993. Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away on September 18th, 2020, in a day that rocked the world of politics, science, and humanity.

Statement From Mitt Romney On The Passing Of Ginsburg Via Twitter

While Ginsburg’s lasting impact in the supreme court will forever be felt throughout the supreme court’s history and throughout The United States national history, it almost took me by kind of a shock to how some people were taking her passing in terms of the upcoming election. While it no doubt plays a factor in what is about to happen this November, it’s interesting to see the thoughts of others on what could possibly happen.

Memorials That Have Been Seen Outside Of The Supreme Court Since RBG’s Passing

Back in 2016 Mitch Mcconell commented on the death of justice Antonin Scalia, saying that Scalia’s seat shouldn’t be filled under the Obama administration at the time. This announcement had come just an hour after the notification of justice Scalia’s passing. But in the instance of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing, Mcconell vowed the day after her passing that he would be holding a vote to whether trump would get the chance to nominate someone of his choice to replace her. Mcconell didn’t say whether he would try to rush the vote through before the election or not. This has many people asking, why the backhandedness this year, but not back in 2016? what is the rush now?

Statement From Reza Aslan On His Thoughts If Ginsburg Is Replaced

The one thing to point out is that this decision has people outraged, to put it nicely. People across the nation are taking to social media sights to express their disdain for the fact that Trump may have the chance to fill another seat in the supreme court if he gets an early nomination, but Obama didn’t get the same chance back in 2016. All in all we are playing a waiting game for the people in Washington to decide whether or not Trump could get the chance to nominate another justice, all we have to do is wait and hope for the best.
