The arrival of 5G in Brazil represents the fifth generation for mobile networks and broadband that will transform the way the government, industries and companies communicate, work and interact with customers and partners.

We’re talking about a quantum leap in data download speeds, which will reach 10 gigabits per second, which is a 10-fold increase over the 4G network, which reaches 1 gigabits per second.

With such capacity, technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things and industrial machines, become increasingly accessible, efficient and fast.

Which for business translates into a single word: innovation.

More significant, however, are the extremely short latency times, that is, how long the network takes to respond to a request, as well as availability, fewer interruptions in calls and better connection quality.

Therefore, it makes it possible to connect multiple end devices simultaneously in a network, in real time, with reliability and unprecedented.

On top of this, the new wireless communications standard reduces maintenance costs and requires only a fraction of the power of its predecessors.

And this revolution has already started!

Currently, 15% of the world’s population lives in areas with 5G coverage.

Users in Australia, Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States consume more data on 5G than on 4G, according to Opensignal’s analysis.

Strictly speaking, the 5G technology officially arrives in Brazil after the auction of the tele-operators Claro, Vivo and Tim, in the frequencies of 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz, to be carried out by the National Telecommunications Agency ( Anatel).

This should happen by July this year, says Fábio Faria, Minister of Communications.

Let’s find out more about when we started to have access to 5G in Brazil and what are its main benefits for the corporate environment?

Check out the details in the next few lines of this article!

5G in Brazil: expectation or reality?

Due to the exceptional experience in other countries, we can have a preview of what is to come with the impact of the implementation of 5G in Brazil.

However, telephone operators are already carrying out tests with the next generation connection in other spectrum bands, and ultra speed can already be experienced in some Brazilian cities.

To this end, the companies launched their provisional 5G networks within existing frequencies, based on a technology called DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing).

Thus, it is possible to clean and freely share the unused 3G and 4G spectrum, to provide the desired 5G service.

The technology involved is the same, the difference is that, after the auctions, the network will be able to operate on an exclusive spectrum.

That said, by migrating users only 3G to 4G, Brazilian operators will speed up the advance towards 5G.

And introducing attractive 4G rate plans is a good strategy, given that a large portion of the population does not have a subscription, coverage, or even a 4G-capable device, according to recent data from Opensignal.

But it is only permissible to enjoy this unequaled speed with a device that already supports the new technology: Moto G 5G, Motorola Edge and Edge+, Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi10 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21 5G (+), Samsung Galaxy Note 20, iPhone 12 series and Asus Zenfone 7 are the best options on the market.

Remember: it is important that the smartphone operates in the frequency bands determined by Anatel, especially if imported, to avoid unexpected performance.

It is noteworthy that the public notice for bidding on 5G in Brazil, approved by Anatel, includes, in one of its obligations, pure 5G operating until June 22, 2022, in the 27 Brazilian capitals.

How will 5G in Brazil revolutionize business?

If 4G technology came to facilitate connectivity between people, 5G in Brazil will make big changes in the history of companies, especially in the areas of Agribusiness, Smart Cities, Industry and Health.

As we read above, the great strength of this reality will be technological innovation, accompanied by three essential properties for new business opportunities.

See below what they are and their advantages and plausible examples to be applied:

● Greater capacity

Adding more capacity to the 5G network in Brazil will increase to millions the sensors connected per square kilometer, and the number of devices and machines enabled by them that can communicate with each other.

Imagine the connectivity of Smart Cities of the near future: improving transit and commuting times, quick response time to emergencies, lower water and energy consumption, reduction of waste from recycling, reduction of harmful emissions, in addition to a huge saving potential.

Do you understand the importance of using the Internet of Things (IoT) to collect more accurate data in real time, in order to better understand new consumption and demand patterns, and respond with faster and less expensive solutions?

Therefore, the dissemination and availability of 5G in Brazil are necessary to contribute towards a high level of sustainable urban development and quality of life for its citizens.

● Faster response times

5G technology in Brazil will offer lower latency that will positively affect digital experiences.

See, lower latency means less time between sending and receiving the signal.

Well, 5G takes that time to minus 10 milliseconds, that is, to half of the most advanced 4G, and in the blink of an eye!

This implies that data will be transferred in real time to the benefit of anything that requires a reaction, such as autonomous vehicles, remotely controlled robotics, video conferencing streams, video classes, high resolution audios and images, without delays or glitches.

A real boom for companies looking to use augmented reality, virtual reality, or 3D to help customers visualize their future homes or furniture, for example, allowing for a greater degree of immersion and easier decision-making.

Another example of the application of state-of-the-art devices is in the healthcare area: it will be possible to monitor and operate patients remotely, create new exams, and provide remote diagnosis and treatment.

The evolution of 5G in Brazil will influence corporate planning regarding the adoption of new equipment and investments, in order to engage consumer relationships with brands, in virtually all sectors.

● Ultra fast speed

With 5G in Brazil, ultra-fast speeds will be provided through a wireless connection rather than cable.

Therefore, rural and suburban areas will have high-speed Internet access, with coverage in densely populated areas, which could not be accessed through a wired connection.

High-speed Internet access will also boost Agribusiness through automation, which, in line with Industry 4.0 innovations, is expected to lead to a true explosion in productivity, processes and services.

The promises of 5G in Brazil are numerous and more than expected, they are on the way.

All of the possibilities discussed here are just what companies can imagine, so now is the time to consider how your business can benefit and prosper with 5G in Brazil.
