Stranger Things is a Netflix science-fiction series set in the 1980s and was inspired by major films of the era, such as Alien, The Extraterrestrial, Ghostbusters, Nightmare, Mad Max and a lot more.

Performed by pre-teens, in addition to Winona Ryder and David Harbor, she attracted the young crowd of that time, namely the now-mid-30s who have brought out some good times of nostalgia while watching the show.

Featuring a plot full of mystery, supernatural forces and many heart-pounding moments, the show gives a show of balance, teamwork and intellectuality in solving the most hairy problems.

To learn how Stranger Things can inspire us in our working life, read this article and enjoy!

About Stranger Things

Stranger Things is an American science fiction Netflix series created, written and directed by brothers Ross and Matt Duffer.

It takes place in the 80’s and is very interesting because it has several cultural elements of the period, such as songs, costumes and haircuts of the characters.

But the cool thing was what inspired the Duffer brothers to create the show: the old works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter and Stephen King, such as Alien — The Eighth Passenger, Carrie — The Stranger, Immediate Contacts of the Third Degree, Cujo, ET : The Alien, The Ghostbusters, Gremlins, The Nightmare Time, It: The Thing, Shark, Jurassic Park: The Dinosaur Park, Mad Max, Count On Me, The Exorcist, The Goonies, etc.

That is why, although Stranger Things is played by pre-teens, it ended up attracting young people at the time, who are in their early 30s.

And while not as “heavy” as The Exorcist, it’s not a mere adventure like The Goonies either. So you really can’t just kids turn on Netflix and start watching.
But what’s the plot anyway?

The series takes place in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the United States.

There, the National Laboratory is known for conducting various scientific research for the country’s Department of Energy.
However, the facility secretly runs paranormal and supernatural experiments, including human testing, which is beginning to affect the residents of the small town.

In season one, Will, a 12-year-old boy, suddenly disappears.

As police, family, and friends search for answers, their schoolmates are plunged into an intriguing mystery involving the government’s secret experiment, supernatural forces, and a powerful little girl named Eleven.

The series is already in the third season and has some very famous cast, such as Winona Ryder and David Harbor, and some newcomers who may already be more famous than Winona herself, such as Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike) , Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), Caleb Mclaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max, or Mad Max, as it is called) and many others.

What are Stranger Things lessons for working life?

In Stranger Things pre-teen boys are wrapped in a plot full of mystery and supernatural forces.

Although very young, they are brave and are willing to face all odds to find Will and solve any other problem.

See how these boys can be an inspiration to our professional life:

1 — Balance

All the characters in the series are people like us and have fears, insecurities and concerns, whether they are children or adults (not only children who seek to solve problems, but also adults).

Nevertheless, no one ever gives up and all of them, without exception, seek a balance when facing adversity.

In our working life, fear, worry, and yearning are almost daily sensations.

But that doesn’t mean we have to back down, right?

Once the turmoil is over, we have a chance to learn from the difficulties and get more mature in a new way.

2 — Teamwork

Needless to mention, teamwork when I talk about Stranger Things.

In all seasons the characters start out divided into smaller groups in an effort to solve the problem and then come together to fight the enemy together, no matter how much they have with each other.

And how it makes a difference to the success of the operation!

Yeah, teamwork is really cliché, but it turns out that almost no one can achieve this difficult skill, right?

And sometimes people don’t even realize it and really believe that it flows perfectly well.

But for teamwork to actually take place, everyone needs to have the same purpose and be 100% aligned with the company’s goals.

Then it takes maturity to set aside the differences and then move on to reach the goals, always united, since the work of one depends on the other.

3 — Intellectuality

All characters research, analyze, investigate and put into practice what they have learned.

So your plans have a very small margin of error and success is always achieved.

In our professional lives, study, research, situation analysis and the search for quick and intelligent solutions should never be left aside.

It is the willingness to solve, innovate and improve that achieves the goals and objectives, and leaves the competition behind.

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest hits and has a lot to inspire us in our professional life!
