The famous House series is starring in the distant, moody but extremely competent skeptic Dr. Gregory House.

Unconcerned with the well-being of patients, but very anxious to find a solution to the disease, he and his team work with focus and persistence in the constant search for the correct diagnoses.

That’s right!

With an out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving attitude at all costs, Dr. House certainly has a lot to encourage us in our business.

In this article you will understand more about the House series and the strategies used by this totally unusual doctor.

Learn more about the House series

The House series revolves around the daily life of scientist Gregory House, played by Hugh Laurie, who specializes in nephrology and infectology.

Very competent, he makes perfect diagnoses, but is extremely skeptical and has a distant posture from his patients.

He often shows a bad temper in dealing with people, because he thinks it is totally unnecessary to interact with them.

Well, the story is set at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital, where Dr. House works with a team of doctors selected on dubious criteria.

But the intention is good: seek solutions to the worst ills of health.

And don’t think that they work very well together.

House often conflicts with the team because much of his diagnosis is based on unlikely and highly controversial assumptions.

Not to mention his disregard for hospital rules and procedures, which causes friction with his boss, Dr. Lisa Cuddy, played by Lisa Edelstein.

The American series created by David Shore, the one that created the famous The Good Doctor, was originally aired on Fox and released in November 2004.

It only ended in 2012 with 8 seasons.

Considered a real success, House was among the top 10 in the United States between the second and fourth seasons, was the most watched television program in the world in 2008 and received 2 Golden Globes, 5 Emmys, 1 Peabody and 9 People’s. Choice Awards.

But what can we learn from grumpy Dr. Gregory House?

We can learn a lot from the grumpy, skeptical Dr. Gregory House, you see?

1 — Has focus and persistence

Though far removed from people and, to be more exact, totally oblivious to them, Dr. Gregory House has one purpose: to understand diagnoses, to cure patients, and thus to learn more.

End!

And it is this goal that makes it work with great focus and persist in the search for solutions to diseases.

To give you an idea, in one episode he heals a convict sentenced to death from a terminal illness just to find out what he had.

Think about your business now.

What is his goal?

What focus should you have to achieve it?

Have you put the necessary effort into it?

2 — Constantly works on problem solving and urges staff to do the same

The solution to the problem for the main character in the House series is to find the right diagnosis, isn’t it?

To do so, he urges the team to find the answers assertive at all costs.

In practice, people come together in a room and give options and alternatives of which diseases may be related to patients’ symptoms.

Yes, they just leave with the certainty that they worked all the possibilities and are usually tasked with two missions: performing the containment action and deepening the diagnosis.

As all patients are at risk of death, House wastes no time and soon begins treatment even without being sure of the disease.

In parallel, the other professionals perform the necessary exams in order to confirm the diagnosis.

When not confirmed, it is common for the patient to have a new symptom or treatment to have an unexpected effect.

Then the team reconvenes and begins a new discussion until the problem is resolved.

Shall we talk about you now?

What is your customer’s problem that can be solved with your product or service?

Are you sure this is the problem and your solution is really the best?

3 — Find a way to organize ideas and propose solutions.

The famous whiteboard in the House Series doctor’s room makes all the difference in organizing your ideas and finding solutions.

And he scribbles it several times, to the point of leaving us with the flea behind his ear if he can really find a way out of such a mess.

But it is this simple framework that is largely responsible for helping you find the answers you are looking for.

How do you organize yourself to help your clients or find solutions to problems?

Sometimes a simple notation of ideas on a board or paper makes all the difference!

If you haven’t watched it yet, watch the House series and come up with some interesting ideas for your business!
