About Vikings

Created by Michael Hirst, an English producer and screenwriter known for the films Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age and for the dramatic series The Tudors, Vikings was filmed in Ireland and made especially for History.

Starring on March 3, 2013 in Canada, the show is inspired by the Viking sagas Ragnar Lothbrok, a legendary Norse hero portrayed as a farmer who achieves fame for his successful attacks in England.

Later he becomes a Scandinavian king with the support of his family and fellow warriors, such as Brother Rollo, son Bjorn Iron Flank and the two wives: Princess Aslaug and the Lagertha squire.

The series will go to its sixth and final season and has been one of the most watched television.

In fact, you can see up to the fifth season on Netflix.

What does Vikings have to do with entrepreneurship?

Vikings has a lot to do with entrepreneurship, creativity, leadership and persistence.

After all, only with a lot of ingenuity did a leader like Ragnar Lothbrok have the ability to go from farmer to king, right?

Check out some very interesting strategies that made it reach this level.

1 — Search for knowledge

Ragnar was always in search of more knowledge, after all, he wanted great, noble and important things and knew that learning would easily lead him to conquer this stage.
And so it is with all of us.

The more we learn, the more we exercise our creativity and intelligence, to the point of thinking about more interesting strategies, differentiated solutions and new products that are more innovative for our business, right?

2 — Approaching people as good as he

Yes, Ragnar surrounded himself with people as good as him.
And despite his arrogance, at important moments he could easily visualize his shortcomings and ask for help.

Exactly!

Seek also to be close to those who lead you to reflect, evolve and improve.

You can be sure that being the best of the worst will not help you become a successful entrepreneur. Quite the opposite.
These days I heard an entrepreneur say: “sardine walks with sardines and shark walks with shark”.

You just have to know if you want to be the sardine or the shark.
I’ll tell you one thing: the shark goes much further!

3 — Lead by example

Ragnar, like many legendary Nordic heroes, leads by example.

This means that their attitudes simply inspire people.

Try a strategy, make mistakes and try again, become a successful entrepreneur, create something innovative, etc. it is the attitudes that make the leaders want to be like you and do the best to achieve.

But not only them, all of us!

It is only you to think of entrepreneurs who inspire us daily, like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Brazilians Tallis Gomes, Flávio Augusto, João Appolinário and many others.

Are they the ones that make us want to improve or are they people who had no merit to get somewhere?
Think about it…

Vikings is one of the most inspiring series to exercise our creativity, persistence and leadership.

It’s worth watching!
