The route of the oil duct passes on the north of Syria, as the map 1 shows below in an area considered unstable. The governors of Syria claimed they could not guarantee the safety of people during construction, as this is an area of critical situation and this is a such expensive project. In addition, Syria claimed that it should have been consulted by Iran before resubmitting the project. Their suggestion was that oil duct pass through the central region of the country, as the map 2 shows below.

Iran, despite, said that this would be impossible since every kilometer of pipeline oil costs 2 million dollars. Syria’s governors believed that the project is very good, however they suggested to talk to find a solution. “Iraque, do you feel comfortable to invest in a not safe area?”, asked Syrya’s delegate. The committee debated for minutes to be able to collect all the necessary money. Thus, they approved the project with 60% in favor and 30% against.

The construction of 1.897km oil duct that will passes throught Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Kuwait, will develop the MENA region, generating employees and the reconstruction of Syria and Iraq. It’s important to connect the countries of the region with a joint managing of resources, mainly oil. In this sense, the oil duct would connect Gaziantep (Turkey), Aleppo (Syria), Baghdad (Iraq) and Kuwait. In addition, Europe and MENA region would be able to exchange oil energy. The total costs is the 3 billions and 794 millions dollars.
