Amidst the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), it was revealed today (02) that, according to the US navy, People’s Republic of China built an artificial island at the Indian Ocean Region close to the existing archipelago of Diego Garcia, a major trade-route area. Along with its discovery, the conference members adressed what are its intentions trough a press release at this morning, asking for recomendations from the United Nations.

Politicians and representatives around the world have had a say on the matter, including US President Donald Trump, who promissed sanctions and escalation of the ongoing “Trade War”. The situation at CICA has escalated to the point in which delegates have proposed to explode the recently-discovered island, or use it as a nuclear waste deposit site. The absurdity of these statemants called the attention of India’s PM Narendra Modi, to which he responded with a cleaver solution.

CICA members still need to decide the fate of China’s actions and the island itself, even though not much can be done according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
