In the lasts two sessions Saudi Arabia and Arab Emirates continues to accuse Qatar of financing and supporting terrorism. Second this countries, since its close relation with Iran, there are sanctions being imposed by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on this country, because of the support offered by Qatar to Houthi Rebels in Yemen and also its close relations to Taliban and other terrorist groups affiliated to Al-Qaeda.

Saudi Arabia and UAE said: “The ISDB executive board should be aware of this sanctions and should have in mind that investments made by this countries could be very dangerous to the regional (and worlwide) security”. Nevertheless, Qatar deny it: “The accusations, made by Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, are completely unfounded and Qatar has even taken more robust counter-terrorism measures than some of the other Arab nations.”

These charges generate intense debates during project discussions. Sometimes, projects are not approved because of it. “Qatar hopes that the false accusations made by some countries gathered at the IsDB does not jeopardize the spirit of cooperation that should be present at the meeting. Our goal must be the debate regarding the post-war reconstruction and the water management in islamic countries.”
