PRESSED IS ON PATREON. WHY NOW?

“Try to start a business” is written on my bucket list, a physical piece of paper that is pinned to my image board. A friend told me I could cross it off the list once I made my first dollar through Pressed. One day last year, I did it; Pressed made its first dollar and I crossed “try to start a business” off my bucket list.

Maybe I should replace it with “run a business,” which I’m learning, is much harder.

Two years ago, I quit my corporate job to start a company that I hoped would change the world, or at least change the way young people consume, react, and interpret the news. It was (and still is) my belief that there are thousands — millions even — of people like me who don’t follow the news because it’s too boring, too difficult, too not written for me.

Today, the Pressed community is made up of thousands of smart, ambitious people who want to learn and stay informed. We’ve launched new products, raised capital, and sold sponsorships to some pretty big brands (yep, our media startup is making money!).

The best part — we continue to receive daily, unsolicited positive feedback from our readers. And after many of them asked how they could be more involved and contribute to Pressed, we joined Patreon!

Why now?

Because despite print publications folding and legacy news titles cutting staff, we want to prove that people will pay for media if it’s made for them.

Because did you know, only 2% of VC funding goes to all-women founding teams (i.e. Pressed)?

Because we want to keep growing, keep building, and keep supporting our roster of writers.

In case you’re wondering, Patreon is a simple way for you to contribute to Pressed every month, and get super cool exclusive rewards in return! Things like mugs with fun quotes, t-shirts, and even 1-on-1 coaching sessions me!

Thank you 🙏
