Our annual in-person community conference is next week! We’ll have a full day of hands-on workshops (these are selling out so register soon if you want a seat!), plus a full day of keynotes and sessions, including a track for Presto on Velox, the C++ native worker that brings a huge performance boost to Presto.

Presto NYC meetup 🙌

We had a great time at our first Presto meetup in New York City earlier this month! Thanks to Uber Engineering for hosting us at their incredible office, to IBM for sponsoring the food and drink, and to the amazing sessions from Uber, Denodo and IBM. We’re looking forward to the next one!

December 12–14: OSA CON 23 (Open Source Analytics Conference) — Virtual
At this “go-to conference for all things open-source analytics,” we’ll have a few Presto sessions! Check out Aditi Pandit’s keynote on Prestissimo: The new generation of Presto, and don’t miss the Open Source Community panel with Ali LeClerc, chair of the Presto Outreach team. Presto 0.284 is now available 🙌 highlights include:

  • Redis-based historical statistics provider (see Redis HBO Provider details)
  • Improved cache efficiency of history-based optimizer
  • Improved performance of outer join when nulls are present
  • Add field names when casting row to JSON

Meta article highlights Presto
The Analytics group at Meta just published an article on “Data engineering at Meta: High-level overview of the internal tech stack” that “provides an overview of the internal tech stack that we use on a daily basis as data engineers at Meta.” The article includes a whole section on “Presto and Spark: Querying the [data] warehouse.” Check it out, and let us know what you think.
