Pretzel Weekly Update #19 — The “Go Back, I Like That” Edition
Happy Sunday, all! We have a new station and the ability to jump back a song, now!

Progress this Week
Latest Build
The latest build of Pretzel at the time of this post is: v. 0.0.15 (180)
This means that if you haven’t refreshed your web player or restarted your desktop player in a while it may not work. A quick refresh/restart will get you up to date with the latest version.
Music Updates
- We’ve on-boarded and are now categorizing over a hundred new tracks from Abstraction Music.
- As always — we’re looking for recommendations for artists to add to Pretzel. Let us know!
Technology
- We’ve continued to tweak and refine the website so that the working version more accurately reflects Evan’s design.
- We fixed a bug when a user’s internet was slow, and they paused the player on song change.
- We added a “time remaining” to the player, so you know how much time is left. You can toggle it on an off by clicking the song duration label.

- We now support replaying the current song from the beginning, like other music players, this is what happened when you use the “previous” button. If you hit your previous media key (or trigger your previous key binding) after the song has played for 10 seconds, it will go back to beginning of the track.
- You can also now play the previous song in the player. If trigger “Previous Track” during the first 10 seconds of the current song, it will take you to the previous track. If you click “Previous Track” after the first 10 seconds of the current song, it will restart the current song.

- Previous Track will go backwards as far as your play history allows, however, when you then go to a “Next” track. It will pick a new track to play. Essentially, you can go backwards through your play history, but not forwards.
- We added a new “Liked” station. This station is populated with tracks you’ve previously “liked”, for those instances where you want to play songs you know you like instead of discovering new music.

So what’s on for this week?
Design and implementation of the account management page that will allow a user to manage most aspects of their account (Account Linking, Like/Dislike management).
We strive to add new music every week, however we have been experiencing resistance from interested artists who are hesitant to sign anything without having a royalties contract in place.
We will soon be announcing our Pretzel Rocks Premium subscription. We will be paying artists 70% of the revenue, 30% will go to Pretzel for running the business and infrastructure. We believe that having a premium service for our users which also fairly compensates our artists will make signing new music much easier.
On the bubble: Design of the artist pitch deck.
We’ve mentioned before that we’re working on the Twitch Interactive Beta. That continues to be a living relationship and development. While we can’t go into details on anything that isn’t already public facing, we’re still pretty geeked to keep working with Twitch to develop this new tech for viewers and streamers.
Along side the development of the paid tier is the design and creation of the Pretzel mobile app, which is a feature users have been requesting for months. Mobile will most likely be part of the paid premium tier.
See you next week!
If you have a moment, there was a really nice write-up on Pretzel at StreamerSquare! Give it a read, if you have a moment. Be sure to check out the Twitch interactive overlay, if you haven’t already. Sign up for our alpha, follow our Twitter and chat in our Discord. We’ll see you next week!
Cheers,
The Pretzel Team
