Pretzel Weekly Update #24 — The “More Stations!” Edition
Happy Sunday, music listeners! We’re adding music. We’re making it easier to find the music you want.

Progress this Week
Latest Build
The latest build of Pretzel at the time of this post is: v. 0.0.15 (193)
This means that if you haven’t refreshed your web player or restarted your desktop player in a while it may not work. A quick refresh/restart will get you up to date with the latest version.
Music Updates
- We successfully worked with Pixel Terror, TuneCore and YouTube to have the false claims against Pixel Terror’s track “Final Boss” removed from YouTube. We also helped Pixel Terror remove their stolen song from storefronts.
- James Flamestar has a new album out! And that album can now be heard on Pretzel.

- Ryan McKay is working like a machine to sign Hip Hop. We’ve got two hours of Hip Hop music onboarded, with more on the way. We’ll make the channel available to all once we’re convinced we have enough music to create a satisfying listening experience.
- New stations — We’re continuing to break down our existing music and to add places for new music to live.
- Ambient: Music that’s more atmospheric than rhythm-driven. Music that’s meant to stay out of the way.
- EDM: This genre becomes necessary as we add genres like Rock and Hip Hop. In the past, 100% of our catalog has been EDM. As that stops being the case, we needed a place to sort Electronic Dance Music.
- Rock: Rock & roll, brother. Rock & roll.
- Mixed: All of the extended mixes and album mixes we’ve onboarded.
- Hip Hop (coming soon): And you don’t stop.

- As always — If you’re an artist who wants to be included in the Pretzel Catalog, let us know!
Technology
- Direct linking. Direct links for albums, labels, artists and tracks. For example: if Argofox uses direct linking to send listeners to Pretzel, clicking that link will populate a playlist/station with Argofox music. Also, the album/artist/information on the player will be clickable, allowing users to click through to listen to, for instance, all of Made Monster’s music.
- Searching will also begin to reflect those new categories (labels, albums, artists and tracks). For example: James Flamestar released a new album this month. Previously, there was no way to load that entire album on Pretzel. A user would have to add each track from the album to a playlist in order to hear the album as the artist intended.
- The What’s Playing Page for each user now shows if that streamer is live and what’s they’re playing.

The Isaac Item Tracker Panel
- A new update was pushed, so the items and their descriptions are now accurate and formatted.
- There are now user preferences to re-order the items as well as automatically scroll to the bottom.
- We brought in two more testers: BatteryChris and GrizzlyGuyGaming.
Milestones
- Pretzel passed 1,000,000 lifetime song plays this week!

So what’s on for this week?
The mobile app got punted last week. That falls back in our crosshairs this week. Reminder: the “potato” mobile player is only available to Pretzel Premium subscribers.
As stated earlier, McKay and Taffy are pounding pavement to create the Hip Hop genre as fast as possible. We hope to have it live this week. In a little over a week, McKay and Taffy will be in Seattle for PAX West, which will help with our ability to talk to gaming companies about signing OSTs and more chiptune.
