If any students are interested in taking AVID for the school year of 2021–2022, they can do so by filling out the AVID application. However, if the students have already submitted their schedule for next year, they can talk to their counselor to switch their schedules around.

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, helps students become academically successful. The freshman in AVID are currently learning about great colleges and careers. The sophomores are learning about time management and stress relief. The juniors are getting ready to apply to colleges. Seniors are learning about financial literacy and to take on the world debt-free.

AVID has helped many students become more organized and successful here at school. Junior Sade Black once was an AVID student who still benefits from the skills she learned. “AVID has helped me become more organized and to help me manage my time wisely,” she says.

She also enjoyed being a part of the AVID program. “I like how they encouraged me to be successful and helped me realize what I want to do and who I want to be in the future,” she adds.

Students learn a lot while being in the AVID program. Not only do they learn about organization but they also learn about goal setting and many other tips for getting good grades, in both high school and college. “Students learn about self-discovery, goal setting, strategies for success in both college and career, and teamwork,” says Ms. Stonerock, one of the AVID teachers here at Eastside.

Students who submit the application are committing to maintain their grades and to stay focused on what’s really important. “They should be ready to commit to the program, work on keeping up their grades, and completing the requirements for college/university after graduation,” Ms. Stonerock adds on.

If any students are interested in being a part of the program can fill out the application by clicking here.
