Former Eastside High School Student Joshua Cross has faced many hardships in his life. These hardships, however, has never let a single one hold him back from his passion.

Joshua’s upbringing was not the greatest but was still described as good. While Josh did not go into much detail about the good memories in his upbringing, he did talk about how he would go to his favorite place Disneyland two times a year and was always a happy child.

Hardship struck Joshua at the young age of 8 when his mother passed away. After missing school for a long time, he came back only to be bullied by other children at his school. Josh faced hard times but eventually was able to rise above everything and realize that nothing will hold him back anymore. This led to Josh wanting to join sports and be more active.

The first sports Joshua recalled playing a lot was Soccer. He then played basketball for a bit but none of this was his passion until he began to play football.

“Football just came naturally cause when I played soccer I always played striker and goalie but mainly goalie, so when it came to catching I was already used to it,” he says.

Joshua still did not realize that Football was his true passion until his Sophomore year at Eastside High School when the coaches encouraged him and let him know that he had a talent for the sport. Joshua began to perfect his craft by slimming down and becoming quicker.

The only thing Joshua believes could stop him from pursuing his dream of Football is not finishing high school. It is a challenge he is willing to accept though and has begun to get back on track with school.

“It’s not gonna come to that because I’m not gonna let it come to that,” he says.

Josh will always let his passion for Football fuel his hunger to become better and the best at what he does. Josh knows he’s good but as long as he feels that he can improve he will always strive to be better. He won’t be satisfied as long as he is always striving to become the best. With talent, faith, and even UCLA coaches being in talks with him, dreams may certainly become a reality.
