It’s Spooky Season!
It’s October, which means Halloween is just around the corner. Halloween is the time of year when many students go out in silly costumes to get candy from strangers. There is a pumpkin pie at the grocery store, and everything seems to be pumpkin spice. Even the candles begin to smell like pumpkin, fallen leaves, and cinnamon. Soon the leaves will turn to orange, yellow, or red.
Then, of course, there’s the horror movies and the students trying to scare each other. All in all, the Halloween season is one that many students around campus are looking forward to.
But not sophomore Peter Cerenzio. “I like Halloween for the candy,” he says. “Other than that, I don’t like it. People are always being mean and scaring others.”
But junior Leyah Stovall disagrees. “I like Halloween because of the sugar,” she says. “I also like how some people dress up to be someone or something they are not.’’
To measure how many people on campus were already feeling the Halloween vibes, we asked over 80 students if they were planning on wearing a costume to school on Halloween. 52% said that they were planning to do so. These costumes range from Eeyore to Peppa Pig. Other costumes to look forward to include Ronin from Endgame, Jason the Toymaker, and Chucky.
Of course, per school policy, none of these costumes will be able to feature masks. Still, it’s already shaping up to be a fun spooky season!
