Lion Spotlight: Mr. Cortinas

Mr. Cortinas is a teacher at Eastside High School. He’s also one of the coaches for the football team. This is his second year working at Eastside.

Mr. Cortinas has a reputation for being one of the realest teachers on campus. “He's dope,” says Eastside student Angel Sandoval. “He helped me with a lot of stuff.”

Mr. Cortinas doesn’t just teach his students about school. He teaches them about life too. Whether it’s in the classroom or on the football field, Mr. Cortinas talks a lot about what’s important, what’s right, and what’s wrong.

“Yeah, he’s cool,” agrees Gabriel Luna. “He helps kids at football that do wrong and get mad. He tries to calm them down and help.”

Mr. Cortinas likes to say that “Nothing is ever handed down to you.” He looks forward to continuing to spread this message here at Eastside.
