Musicians And Color..
The topic that is going to be discussed is three amazing musicians contributing to skin color. This involves aretha franklin, alicia keys, and biggie smalls. To highlight these amazing people they all have something in common. In spite of the fact of their color, they all used their voices to help issues that are shown in society.
Aretha Franklin
“We all require and want respect, man or woman, black or white. It’s our basic human right.”
Aretha franklin, now known as the queen of soul had struggled through a lot growing up as a young black woman. She was known to be the voice of black america and to be one of most mentally strongest women of all time. She lost her mother when she was 10 and she was a mother of 2 at the age of 15. She started to recognise the hate in society when she slowly started to rise toe fame. Knowing Aretha she decided to use her voice to sing and speak out about her issues and other issues that have been going on since she was a little girl. She inspire so many young black woman to use their voices no matter what color you are, you can do it.
Angel cole, a beautiful young lady that is known to have one of the strongest voices in EHS states- ”As a black female who sings I feel like their work inspires me and shows me what paths have been taken by strong black female women and if they could do it then during all the hate and prejudice, I can do it now.”
Alicia Keys
“I always want to stay focused on who I am, even as I’m discovering who I am.”
Alicia keys is a beautiful mixed woman (black and white). She grew up around a very poor environment. She had to be faced with her race at a very young age because of her being different from the rest she was raised with her mother alone having little knowledge of what she is. Today she is very outspoken about race and the hate of society.
Biggie Smalls
“Sold-out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin’ life without fear
Considered a fool ’cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it’s still all good.”
Biggie smalls grew up in the hood. He was not raised in a environment to where you gets to get what he wants when he wants. He had to hustle to be placed where he was placed. He was a misunderstood black man and stereotyped by society because he did not grow up in poverty or fame. He earned his way to the top. He showed that anybody can make history no matter who you are.
