Lil Peep was an “emo” rapper/singer whose real name was Gustav Ahr. He used SoundCloud to release his music, including fan favorites like Crybaby and Starshopping. Then, on November 15 of last year, before a show in Arizona, he died of an overdose on fentanyl-laced Xanax. Peep left behind many close friends and his mom, Liza.

Lil Peep’s song frequently dealt with depression. His honest lyrics gave his fans something to relate to. Eastside senior John Martinez, a fan of the artist, says Lil Peep’s music made him feel sad. “But it’s more of a good sad if that makes sense,” he says.

Just a few months before his death, Lil Peep released the first part of a new album titled Come Over When You’re Sober. After his death, fans didn’t know if they’d ever get to hear the rest of that album. Many assumed they would never hear any new music from Lil Peep.

That hasn’t been the case.

Several songs have been released in the year following Lil Peep’s death. Those songs include the collaborations Spotlight, with Marshmellow, and Falling Down, with popular artist XXXTentacion.

On November 9th, almost a year after Lil Peep’s death, the second part of his final album will be released. Fans have already begun to pre-order cassette tapes or vinyl records for Come Over When You’re Sober Pt 2.

Lil Peep had an impact on many teens when he was alive, and that impact still lives on in fans that remember him today.
