Music had been used for many years and everyday there is a new song being published. There are also two types of music that people listen to and they are Old School and New School. From a poll on Instagram showed that out of 108 and seven students 68% favored Old School and 32% favored New School.

Old School is preferred over new school mostly because of the reason that people can relate to what rappers like Tupac, Eazy E, and Ice Cube. These rappers rapped about how it is to be like them growing up and how police harassed them and the fact that they didn’t have equal rights. “Old School music and rappers Eastside Freshmen Jessica Reyes says, “The reason I like Old rap better than New rap is because Old School music was pure and had stories and meanings the rap now is just everything all over the place.

New School music has taken over a lot and it played almost everywhere and its mainly because it talks about drugs, bragging about how much money somebody has, and lastly because of the hype beats that are used in the music which draws teens to it. Eastside Sophomore Jason Romero says, “I chose New School music over Old School music because its more hype and I love how the Cali Vibe is now.” This proves the point in that now teens listen to a lot of this because of how cool it sounds and how the music beats get them excitedly hyped up. Another thing is that now more teens are trying to be like these new rappers and rapping about the same things and doing the same actions the New Generation of rappers did.

Old or new, most people choose old school more than new school because it was more pure and it was not about the bad things like drugs and bragging about money. Old school spoke about real world things that effected the way they lived and how hard it was for them growing up. Eastside Freshman Jorge Anguiano says, “ Personally I like them both cause my current favorite rapper is New School but my all time favorite rapper is Old School so I would go with Old School because I grew up with it and I would choose New School because my favorite rapper has a different flow and vibe no other New School artists has.”

This proves that more people like Old School music more because more people grew up with it or it tells about problems that people can relate to. The reason New School is liked because some teens think drugs and people just rapping random things is cool. More people Like the Old School because the music had meanings and stories not just gibberish.
