For many high school students, the homecoming dance is one of the highlights of the year. Whether you have a date or are going with friends, you’re nearly guaranteed to have fun. That’s especially true with this year’s theme. Because our school turns 15 this year, ASB has decided that this year’s theme will be a Quinceanera.

With just one week left until the dance, it’s time for fun, laughter, and — of course — last-minute proposals. Even last-minute proposals are special, however. It takes a lot of love and time to find the right thing to do and say to propose to that special someone.

Eastside student Denise is just one of many students who was recently asked to the homecoming dance by a proposal. These proposals are excited to watch, but what are they like to experience? We asked Denise that question.

“I was just so shocked and excited that the person I liked really asked me to go to homecoming with him,” she said. “It was so beautiful. I just loved the way everything was put together.”

But not everyone’s as lucky as Denise. According to a recent survey of nearly 80 participants, only 13% of Eastside students have received a proposal for homecoming this year.

That leaves 87% of Eastside students without one.

So take the lead and pop the question. Stop worrying about your date and actually ask them. That way you can both start worrying about what you’re going to step out with. And if you don’t know how to ask, get some help. Get your friends to help you come up with ideas until you get that perfect one.

It will help ensure that everything about this year’s homecoming dance is fun.

Homecoming will take place on Saturday, October 5th at the large gym.
