Roddy Ricch, a rap artist from Compton, California, has taken the music industry by storm with his new album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial. The album has brought 43 minutes of material made up of 16 tracks.

Roddy Ricch has seen big success before with songs like “Die Young” and “Every Season” from his Feed Tha Streets II album back in 2018. Despite these accomplishments, Roddy never made number 1 until the second song on his album “The Box” began to make waves and slowly climbed up the Billboard 100 charts.

In the music industry, having a number 1 song and album is a huge accomplishment. It is such an achievement that huge music artists like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been pushing their fans to help them beat Roddy Ricch and take his spot on the top of the BillBoard Hot 100.

“I love ‘The Box!’” says senior Alex Ortega. “I play it almost every day because it is just so catchy.”

Alex isn’t the only Eastside student who’s been listening to The Box. In fact, a recent survey shows that 97% of EHS students have at least heard the song.

“You will hear it sooner or later,” says Alex. “I don’t know how you can not recognize it.”

How’s Roddy handling his newfound success? The rapper took to Instagram and said it’s time for him to stay focused. “It’s far from time to rest now,” he says. He also gave thanks to God and encouraged his fans on Twitter to go stream Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. The love is mutual, as Justin Bieber has congratulated Roddy on his first-ever number 1 song.

Roddy is up for three awards at tonight’s Grammy awards.
