On Thursday, April 1st, Six Flag announced the reopening of its park to California residents. Monday through Friday the park is open from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

While some EHS students are excited about the reopening of Six Flags, others think it’s too early. According to a recent survey conducted by PrideSource Today, 71% of students are excited for the park to re-open. The remaining 29% of students think it’s too early. Nearly sixty students were included in this survey.

That 29% of students who feel it’s too early to open back up aren’t alone. “I don’t really care as far as Six Flags,” says Ms. Jannsen, one of the Art teachers here at Eastside. “But as far as COVID, I think it is too fast to open back up.”

She doesn’t feel it’s safe enough for Six Flags to reopen at the moment. “My biggest concern is that the people might be spreading the virus unknowingly or the virus might be there and people who are not vaccinated could be exposed to it,” she adds.

Junior Trinity Wiggins is nervous as well. “I’m most nervous about how many people are there at a time and how close we are on rides,” she says.

While she is nervous about the safety of others, she is still excited for the park to be reopened. “I’m most excited to finally get back on rides again and have fun,” she says.

In order to prevent the spread of the virus, all visitors to Six Flags are still required to wear a mask. People who don’t wear a mask will not be allowed inside the park. However, according to students who’ve visited, park attendants do not sanitize rides or seatbelts between use.

For those who are planning to go to Six Flags, please note that Hurricane Harbor is still closed. The only part that is open is Six Flags as of now.
