On Monday, April 12th, Eastside students will have the option to return to campus for in-person instruction. These students will complete two days a week in person but will still complete the other three online. Whether online or in-person, the school day will continue to end at noon.

For students who chose to return their schedule will be determined on whether they are in group A or B. This information can be found on PowerSchool, the paper they received at the beginning of the year, or via email. Group A students will be on campus Monday and Tuesday, while group B will be there Thursday and Friday.

Students who wish to remain in distance learning will be on the exact same schedule as before. They can ignore the calls and emails from the front office as that information only applies to students going back on campus. Any student that doesn't sign up to return will automatically stay in distance learning and will not be allowed back on campus.

While some students are excited to return to campus, others are hesitant. According to a recent survey conducted by PrideSource Today, 62% of students do not feel it's safe to return to campus. Nearly 30 students were included in this survey.

In order to ensure student's safety, everyone who returns to campus will be required to wear a mask. Students will be socially distanced while at their desks. The school will also sanitize classrooms regularly after students leave.

Still, many students are nervous but they aren't alone. “I’m nervous about safety and people following the rules,” says Mrs.Coffey, one of the teachers in Eastside’s Biomedical Academy.

That doesn't mean she isn't excited to have students back on campus. “I’m just so excited to be with other people,” she continues. “I’m also excited about doing labs with my students.”

Senior Me’Ami Dugais is excited to return as well. “I’m most excited to see people that I know,” she says.

She's also excited to have the ability to receive in-person help. “School’s stressful,” she says. “If I’m in person, I’ll actually be able to reach out to teachers for help.”

Students who wish to return can do so by clicking here. If they have any unanswered questions, they can click here to get them answered. Students or parents who submit questions should expect to have them answered in the next few days by either principal Dunn or another member of the Eastside staff.
