Kakashi of the Sharingan is a character from an amine called Naruto who throughout the show was the Sensei of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. His life had been a mystery up until the creator of the show, Masashi Kishimoto, spent a couple of episodes giving him some important backstory.

These episodes revealed important details about his childhood, including his father and training. The most important of these details came during his discussion about the ninja code and how he obtained his sharingan. During this time, Kakashi said that “people who break the rules are considered scum.”

Later, after Kakashi abandoned his mission to rescue a squad member, this belief needed some adjustment. Another character named Obito told Kakashi “Yes, people who break the rules are considered scum, but people who abandon their friends are worse than scum.”

This newfound friendship between Obito and Kakashi was shortlived. Shortly after this rescue, Obito pushed Kakashi out of the way of a falling boulder. The boulder crushed Obito's right side, fatally wounding him.

“Kakashi is one of the deepest and most developed characters in the show,” says one Eastside student. “That’s why he’s in my top 3 for favorite Naruto characters.”

Like many real-world teens, Kakashi’s life has been difficult. But it was those difficulties that shaped him into the person he’d become.

Naruto is currently available to stream on Hulu.
