The school year is almost coming to an end and it is just that time where students become overwhelmed with all the tests and amounts of assignments. Let’s face it, around this time of the school year is when students are anxious for summer to come and tend to just get lazy when it comes to school work. Eastside students all share the same problems. Here are some tips to keep those grades high!

Turn in every assignment in. ON TIME!

The biggest problem for some students at Eastside is all of the missing assignments which turn into zeros in the grade book. Those zeros drastically bring your grade down which isn’t good for your GPA.

There’s reasons why work isn’t being turned in, because there isn’t enough time to finish the whole assignment with full effort. Even if there’s hardly time left and you are not done with your assignment, turn it in when it is due no matter what!

Always remember anything is better than a zero in the grade book.Lots of assignments are tons of work and get really difficult to do. Also some teachers assign students a weeks worth of work while expecting them to get it done in one day.

Do every extra credit possible

Some students ignore the extra credit option because it won’t affect their great negatively if they don’t do it. However, if you really do every piece of extra credit, your grade will go up. Sometimes the extra credit work is pretty simple, easy points that will bring your grades up!

“Once I began doing extra credit assignments, my grades were actually improving.” says Junior Edwin Sierra. “For example, if you get a bad grade on a test it will make your grade drop. However if you do the extra credit, your grade will hardly drop.”

“If there’s extra credit available in my classes I always take it.” Says Sophomore Katelyn Corbett. “Even if makes a small difference it will add up in the end.”

Watch out for distractions

Plenty of Eastside students really do try their best to study and do all their homework as soon as they get home. However the distractions will get the best of them. The ten minute study breaks turn into an hour study break. When this happens students procrastinate.

When you are getting ready to do homework or study for a test, you can either turn your notifications off, log out of all social media, or even put the whole phone away completely.

“Before I start my homework I make sure to put my phone away because I know I’ll get the temptation to go on twitter.” Says Sophomore Heaven Mejia. “This makes it so much easier to get my work done faster. Then I have the rest of the day to go on my phone, sleep, or hangout with my friends.”

These tips will keep students from failing their classes and procrastinating to get their work done. It will make things so much easier than struggling to get work done the night before, or even the day of!
