It’s been a scorcher of a month and things are hotting up for us too.

Hot Hot Hot..! July has been a very sunny one and we are happy to inform you that we have added even some more fuel to the fire. We have revved up our corporate engine and we’re ambitiously firing away on all cylinders.

Nowhere has it been hotter than London, where we have finally started physical construction work in our new office at CityPoint. We have had to deal with persistent administrative issues, but these are thankfully now a thing of the past and we have crossed an important threshold in our race to opening.

With London in construction mode and both Amsterdam and Berlin in operation, we are on course to open five Primalbase offices before the end of 2018. We are still in the contract phase in New York and we have high hopes to securing our preferred location before the end of August. More on New York in next month’s report.

With ‘normal’ business quieting down in August, rest assured we will be there for those who continue working and of course we remain open for business. Please enjoy a ‘cold one’ from our fridge to keep you going. Try not to leave it open too long, though we do understand the temptation to park yourself in front of it!

TEAM UPDATES

Evelyne Ndirangu — Office & Operations Management Intern Berlin

We are kicking off the second half of 2018 with a bang at Primalbase Berlin, adding a new member to the team! A warm Primalbase welcome to Evelyne Ndirangu from Nairobi, a Master’s student here in Berlin studying International Marketing.

She will join our Operations Management department for the next three months as an intern, assisting Lars with the daily operations in the Berlin office.

Evelyne has worked in a variety of different sectors, marketing for companies focused on everything from wildlife to events. She has a collaborative approach to work that will be a huge asset to Primalbase. In Evelyne’s own words: “Tech provides scalable opportunities for business to venture in and make profits, I would like to be part of the transition in linking businesses to tech.”

Her favourite quote is “If you are offered a seat in a Rocketship, don’t ask what seat, just get on!” — Sheryl Sandberg. Moreover, she is a Jenga! pro. Come over to the office to challenge her for a game.

LOCATION UPDATES

Primalbase AMS
To make life for our token holders even more comfortable over these past hot weeks, we have summer-proofed the office by acquiring extra fans and delicious popsicles. This way, you will be able to keep a cool head while you’re working!

July was a particularly big month for sport, with France conquering Croatia in the World Cup final on July 15th. Congratulations to all our French token holders on the victory, and commiserations to our Croatian token holders, but huge respect for putting up such a fight! It was quite the spectacle.

Besides the World Cup, July also saw the Tour de France take place. As cycling is one of the main activities for the Dutch, we streamed several of the stages live in the office for tenants and token holders.

In July we also hosted two events at Primalbase AMS. On July 3rd, we welcomed the Association of MBAs (AMBA), an event initiated by one of Primalbase’s token holders! We were happy to be able to offer our office as a venue for the event to be held and the event was fantastic.

On July 19th, Primalbase also hosted Binary District’s ‘PoS Blockchain Protocols’ event. Bernardo David led discussion and was tremendous speaker. We hope everyone who attended took away some valuable insights.

For information about upcoming events, please keep an eye on our website and social media channels!

Lastly, just a friendly reminder for our token holders with 4 PBT or more. The 4 PBT office in Amsterdam remains available to you. Please contact us at amsterdam@primalbase.com if you would like to reserve it!

Primalbase BER
July was an extremely busy month for events over at our Berlin branch, run primarily by Binary District, one of our key tenants.

First up was the Master Workshop: ‘Off the Chain’ on the 30th June to 1st July, with Primalbase serving as a center for festivities. We were privileged to host a cocktail night in our office the night before, as well as the closing brunch on Monday.

We welcomed some of the most eminent researchers and engineers working on state channels — many of whom had come from all over the world. State channels are regarded as scalable solutions for blockchains and it was fascinating for us and, judging by the reaction, the audience to learn more about how they are evolving.

After the brunch, some also stayed with us to watch the World Cup, which brought a lot of noise to the office, particularly with such a passionate and global crowd!

On July 5th, Dionysis Zindros led an evening meetup discussing cross-chain transfers in proof of work blockchains. He talked about how different cross chains are built and the conditions required for creating multiple side chains. He introduced the concept of building side chains without compromising security.

Finally, on the 17th of July, Bryan Ford stopped by to share his thoughts on how to enhance Bitcoin security. The amount of time it takes to process a single transaction often takes ten minutes or more, which leaves the cryptocurrency susceptible to attacks. Ford outlined a model which serves as a solution to provide Bitcoin scalability.

All in all, July was a great and busy month for the Berlin office — we are very much looking forward to the rest of the summer season!

Our token holders with 4 PBT or more are also welcome to come and use our 4 PBT office. If you would like to make a reservation, please contact us at berlin@primalbase.com and let us know!

Primalbase LDN
July has been eventful for the London office, as mentioned in the introduction. In the end, though, it has ended extremely positively.

After a long and meticulous process, we have selected our London construction partner. We have also got final approval for our design and planning, concluding the preliminary works phase, and we have now started the physical construction.

To give our community more insight into the process, and because it’s fun, we are planning a ‘hard hat tour” by the end of August. Keep an eye on our social media channels for your invitation. This will be a great chance for you to get an idea of how it’s all going to look.

We are especially proud of the spectacular view, and such a spectacular view calls for an equally spectacular interior! In this office we will have two boardrooms which both overlook ‘the city’. Large wooden tables with bespoke chairs are being custom made at this very moment. In line with our Amsterdam and Berlin offices, we will also have an event space which overlooks the city. Coworking desks will be located in both the middle and in the point of the office. From these seats, you will also have the same spectacular view.

The kitchen area will have a special kitchen “island”, as well as comfortable lounge seating. It will be a place to meet each other and enjoy a well deserved meal. We are all extremely excited and will continue to shard our progress with you.

Primalbase NYC & Primalbase SIN
Happy to report another positive month in NYC. With the contract close to signing, we are looking into project managers and construction partners to help us build out the office space. We hope to share more information with you in regard to timings soon.

Meanwhile the interior design team is working hard on a design-plan to give this office a look and feel worthy of both Primalbase and NYC.

We are looking for an Operational Manager for the NYC office. If you are interested see ‘Job Vacancies’.

Our Singapore office is still scheduled to open at the end of this year as planned. However we would like to receive some tips from you in regard to location. Where do you think Primalbase SIN should be located exactly? Locals, please share your knowledge with us!

TECHNICAL UPDATES

Primalbase 2.0 with leasing functionality is under undergoing development. We are planning to conduct internal MVP tests in the first part of September and invite some community members to test it. Based on the feedback, we will update our roadmap and deliver a beta version if there aren’t critical technical, security issues. Stay tuned.
