Getting ready to take a bite out of the Big Apple

June has seen record temperatures across Europe — it’s lucky our offices have been there to keep you cool! That’s not to say things haven’t been hotting up in other ways at Primalbase though.

First off, we’ve welcomed a whole host of fresh faces into the Primalbase offices, with a number of new Operation Assistants coming in to help ensure our members enjoy the best possible experience. Keep an eye out when you visit and don’t forget to say hello!

We’ve got even bigger news in New York. Primalbase NYC is set to finally open its doors in July! Hannah and the team have been working overtime to install all the final bits and pieces — we can’t wait to see it in all its glory at the soft launch on July 10th! Better still, you’re all invited to see it too. We’ll have drinks, canapés and talks from our CEO, Ralph Manheim. Don’t miss your chance to see the space before anyone else — grab your free ticket here.

And MORE good news from NYC — if you’re working for a tech company looking to get out on the New York scene, then our CEO Ralph and our Business Development Manager, Simone, will be hosting guided tours and an exclusive first look at our private offices for companies earlier in the day. You can reserve your space by emailing newyork@primalbase.com with your name, contact details and your preferred time slot (1pm-1.30pm, 1.30pm-2pm etc). Find out more later in the report.

Primalbase also turned two this month! To celebrate, we’re giving 3 lucky tech startups the chance to win their very own private office in Primalbase London for an entire month. To be in with a chance of winning, simply enter via the form and let us know how your tech project could benefit from a central London office!

With events ranging from Berlin brunches to Zero-Knowledge proofs in the London skyline; scroll through our June report to see what we got up to in June!

LOCATION UPDATES

Primalbase AMS

We’re now halfway through the year and summer is really hitting its stride, with board shorts and tank tops order of the day as temperatures regularly hit 30°.

Our CEO Ralph headed across the channel to London, where he spoke at the Coworking London Conference, on the intersection of real estate, technology and the future of work.

Back on home soil, the operations team continues to grow. We’ve welcomed two fresh new faces, Alise and Erisilda, who join us as Operations Assistants.

Eri is a 28-year-old coming from Greece with Albanian roots. She has a diverse academic background, having studied political, economic and cultural sciences, and more recently sustainable development. She is bilingual and has studied a range of languages, including Russian, German and Dutch. She is passionate about social innovation and believes in developing economically-viable decisions that are also environmentally and socially responsible. As the new office and operations assistant, she hopes to bring enthusiasm to everything she does. So, do feel free to chat with her!

Alise, meanwhile, would describe herself as an enthusiastic and motivated person. Her background in hospitality has given her a vast amount of experience in working with people across different cultures. She’s also process driven, and enjoys coordinating all activities within the co-sharing workspace. She spends her free time wisely by travelling to neighbouring countries to experience their cultures. To recharge her batteries, she also attends dance classes and performances at the International Theater Amsterdam — she might break out a move if you put on a song she likes. Gaining knowledge is very important to her, and to do that, she challenges herself to learn about new subjects, of which the current interest is ‘Chinese-acupuncture’.

She also mentions that the only way she can be bribed is with ice cream from ‘Flax & Kale’. *Cryptocurrency will be accepted very soon too*

On a further internal note, we have set up a Wayfinding system around the office so you can get around and about the office with ease!

Primalbase BER

June was a great month for the Berlin office. We got to meet a number of new faces, whether they were signing up for a hotdesk or taking an office tour. The number of hotdesks booked increased moderately during the month, with nomads and people from all over the world joining our Berlin community.

The Primalbase team also held two small community events. On Friday 7th of June, we celebrated the Carnival of Culture and Eid al-Fitir (which marks the end of Ramadan) with our diverse community. Everyone was asked to bring a dish that represented their country and culture, so that evening was filled with loads of tasty surprises and treats.

To help people kick off the day and bring the community together, we organised a breakfast on Wednesday the 19th of June. We arranged a delicious assortment of food and drinks, as well as a short fun activity to burn those extra calories off after breakfast.

It was great to see people connect during both gatherings and all we can say is what a beautiful community we have here in Berlin.

Finally, we sent out an office satisfaction survey to all the people that have booked in Berlin to gain more insight into how we can still improve our services. A huge thank you to everyone who has filled it out for helping us to grow! We are currently analysing the results to see what actions to take.

Primalbase LDN

The London office has been buzzing this month, with a packed event schedule, new starters in our Ops team, and more of our regular token holders dropping by.

First, we would like to introduce and extend a warm welcome to Mary Lord and Braydon Hackett, who have started as Operations Assistants.

Mary has worked with us previously, assisting Binary District with their events in our office so she is already a familiar face. She has a background in customer service and currently works part time at the RAF Museum as a Visitor Experience Assistant. Mary has a keen interest in art, drawing and fashion.

Braydon has previously worked in events, as an assistant to the MD of a fashion brand, and in operations in retail. In his spare time he enjoys working on his own fashion label, and is a passionate designer. Welcome to the Operations team both!

On the event side, we had an impressive turn out at Binary District’s Zero-Knowledge Proof workshop. The 5 day event featured expert luminaries in the field of ZKP from the likes of Snarky, 0(1) Labs, and Dfinity, including the great Jens Groth. It included a 2-day hackathon, where attendees put everything they had learnt about writing protocols to work. A huge thanks to the 70 developers who came in, it was a great week.

We were also pleased to play host to Bitassist and the Coworking London Conference 2019. Bitassist ran an evening meetup focused on unlocking Crypto-asset valuations and featuring speakers from Chainalysis, Crypto Compare, TokenAnalyst, Coinintelligence, and Omenics. The Coworking London Conference 2019, meanwhile, joined us for a morning of the 2-day event, and featured speakers from the likes of Landsec, JLL, Colliers and more.

Primalbase NYC

As the Primalbase NYC offices near completion, our New York operations manager, Hannah, was busy putting in long hours (and some weekends) to select our final vendors, project manage our electric work and painters, unpack an unbelievable amount of boxes, and knock out the punch list for the opening of our new office.

We worked with two fantastic electricians, Dan and Jon, who were able to quickly get all of the additional conduits, pendant lights and wall sockets installed that we would need on the office floor. Our tech team from the Netherlands joined Hannah in the office for two days early on in the month to assemble our mobile four-screen monitor, among other things. Hannah selected and on-boarded our new pantry and coffee services vendor, so we can offer the amenities that Primalbase is known for here in our New York location. We will have a professional-grade Nespresso Gemini (the same machine as in our other offices) plumbed in at this location so we will be able to offer all of the unlimited espresso, coffee, and foamy milk you can handle. Who knew that gaining access to a water line could be so exciting?

Hannah is now focusing on refining the pre-build details of the office so we are able to offer the best space possible to our community, with no area of the 24th floor left uninspected. This has led her to work directly with the General Contractor, plumbers, mill workers, and building porters to correct any items missed upon our move in. She’s had an assembly team assist with her with building out the desks, chairs and tables with only a few pieces left to complete.

As we have finished painting all of the new electric work to match the pre-existing work, the furniture is now finally ready to be placed on the floor. Between staging and finalising our location procedures and administrative tasks, we’re closer every day to opening our doors. We’ve grown to know our neighbourhood more, and can highly recommend a handful of superb lunch spots and cafes. Hannah hopes to continue to build relationships with our neighbouring businesses to be able to provide our token holders with exclusive deals and discounts in the future.

In June, we also announced our soft-launch open on July 10th. We are excited to invite our token holders, community, and anyone looking for a private office in a tech community along to our New York debut. Ralph, Hannah, Simone, and the entire Primalbase team will be there to welcome you to our beautiful new location at 40 Fulton Street. If you’d like to take a guided tour of the space during the day of July 10th, please email us at newyork@primalbase.com to arrange your slot.

Primalbase SGP

With all hands on deck for our NYC opening, it was a relatively quiet month in Singapore. Our real estate agents are still on the lookout for suitable office spaces. The opening is still scheduled for the end of the year and we will update you on this progress in the coming months.

Web Products Update

The development team has been busy over at Primalbase, looking for ways to improve our user experience. We are pleased to say that we have introduced minimum pricing, with token holders now obliged to set the price of their token at the equivalent of €8 or more in ETH. This has been done to make our prices more competitive in the market and ensure that our members get a fair return.

We have also renamed the Lease Market the Membership Substitution Program. We feel this name better reflects the Primalbase business model. We hope that “member subbing” will increase in the future as a result of these changes and we’ll see more users joining us in all of our locations.

PRIMALBASE COMMUNITY

Upcoming events

To celebrate the soft launch of Primalbase NYC, we’re inviting the tech community down for canapes and drinks on July 10th. You’ll be among the first to see this amazing space first-hand, meet other Primalbase members, and hear from our CEO, Ralph Manheim. You can RSVP here.

We’ll also be running guided tours of the space throughout the day between 11am and 5pm. If you’d like a more thorough look at the office, simply email newyork@primalbase.com with your name, contact details and your preferred time slot. (1pm-1.30pm, 1.30pm-2pm etc).

Hope to see you there!
