As summer turns to autumn, Primalbase welcomes new faces

Primalbase offices around the world have been hives of activity again this month. Not only have the events calendars been filled by a diverse lineup of speakers and topics, but we’ve also welcomed some new faces to the company. We also saw events explaining the fundamentals of Blockchain in Amsterdam; meetups from Cryptocurrency Mining Group in Berlin and the great ethical questions of AI posed in London!

Our New York location continues to fill up, while the Member Substitution Program in London has really come into its own too.

There’s even more to tell, so read on…

LOCATION UPDATES

Primalbase AMS

As September rolled in, we welcomed Amsterdam office regular, Jack Tanner, for a session on the fundamentals of blockchain. The talk covered how the technologies came about and what they can do, as well as current trends in the industry.

If you’re yourself intrigued, there’s good news: Jack will be hosting another event at Primalbase Amsterdam in October. Sign up for free here. It will focus on the different mechanisms for achieving consensus for blockchains and distributed ledgers, as well as their particular characteristics.

Primalbase BER

After a busy summer in Berlin, we headed into September with a variety of events on the agenda.

On the 25th of September, Alejandro De La Torre and Denis Rusinovich from the Cryptocurrency Mining Group in Berlin hosted a meetup in our office. We had fruitful discussions about the right hardware, location, cost-efficiency and green energy.

The next day, we held our first-ever ‘edutainment’ life coaching event, with a keynote facilitator who also happens to be one of our regular members — Soeren Janssen. Soeren’s talk, ‘Life is Knocking at Your Door’, gave us some food for thought. Drawing on his experience in the music industry, managing people like David Hasselhoff, he shared life lessons along with stories from his career. Soeren is now a professional life coach and helps people discover their desires and increase their motivation.

On the last Friday of the month, we had some spontaneous learning sessions, where people shared their knowledge and expertise with the community. Alejandro De La Torre from Poolin offered a crash course in crypto and blockchain. Then our talented Operations Manager, Lars Smits, led us through a Pimp Your LinkedIn Profile workshop, before we kicked off the weekend with some afterwork drinks.

Primalbase LDN

It’s been another busy month in the London office, with some great events and new people welcomed into the fold.

On Tuesday the 10th, we hosted a packed one-day conference on ethical AI development, which welcomed speakers from the legal industry, data scientists from Microsoft, and journalists from the BBC and Financial Times. There was plenty of spirited debate, with examples of truly groundbreaking AI platforms being showcased for our audience.

The following week, the London office opened its doors again for ‘Tech Dives: Do Blockchain & AI work together?’ These two emerging technologies attract a great deal of hype, so this event was an ideal opportunity to set the record straight by hearing from experts directly involved in their development.

We saw some incredible demonstrations of current decentralised AI projects, and were treated to a superb dissection of how the technologies will continue to evolve in the coming years.

Warren Seow has taken over as interim operations manager of Primalbase London, as Jess Green is leaving us to explore new opportunities. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours and thank her for everything she’s done to get Primalbase London up and running! Her efforts in the office’s construction, conceptualisation and daily operation, along with her close relationships with everyone she’s worked with will be missed. That said, expect a smooth transition. Please feel free to chat with Warren if you have any questions.

As we move into the final quarter of 2019, you might find the offices more full than usual. That’s because our industrious sales team has been working hard to bring in new tenants. So, if you are out in the communal area, don’t be surprised to see groups of people taking pictures and being bowled over by the stunning views.

Primalbase NYC

As we begin to establish our presence, September saw many changes at the New York location, including Michael Abeshouse taking over as Interim Operations Manager. We are very happy to welcome him to our team and believe he’ll bring great value to our community.

The construction on the lobby of our building has now been completed, with couches and waiting spaces for impromptu meetings, and an electronic scanner enabling seamless entry. We have seen an increase in hotdesk users in the office, in addition to Ron Hamenahem — who is one of our 4 PBT holders — coming in daily to make full use of the space. Tour requests for our private lease offices and hotdesks have been rolling in. Make sure you’ve booked your desk or tour ahead of time, so our team can register you and ensure you have a great experience.

This month we also held an event with Propmodo, which covers the world of commercial real estate. Together, we welcomed 80 people to our offices for a chance to network, socialise, and enjoy the great views of New York City.

Primalbase SGP

After long consideration, we have decided to postpone the opening of the Singapore office to Q2 2020. We want to make sure our current offices have a vibrant community of PBT holders and office tenants, a great calendar of events and great staff to manage that all. That involves looking at the branding, but also renting out all the global offices.
