As the global population is projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, the demand for food will also increase. However, traditional protein sources such as livestock and fish may not be able to meet this demand sustainably. Therefore, Prime Movers Lab has looked at alternative sources of protein such as plant-based proteins and cell-based meat as potential solutions.

Cell-based meat, also known as lab-grown meat or cultured meat, is a technology that uses animal cells to grow meat products without the need for traditional animal farming. This technology has the potential to reduce the environmental impact of meat production and address animal welfare concerns, while still providing consumers with the taste and nutritional benefits of real meat.

Overall, the development and adoption of alternative protein sources, including cell-based meat, will be crucial in ensuring that the world can sustainably meet the growing demand for protein in the coming decades. Check out some of our predictions and thought pieces on the future of alternative proteins.
