Breakthrough Science Primer: Brain Computer Interfaces
Brain computer interfaces (BCI) enable a person to control an external device using brain signals, and recent advances have made BCIs one of the most exciting areas of neurotechnology. These devices can be invasive or non-invasive through electroencephalography or other means. At its essence, a BCI is a way of interfacing with the brain — to get signals out, put signals in, or both. With increasing investments, both from the government and venture sources, the maturity of these technologies is advancing rapidly. In fact, Prime Movers Lab has made investments in two BCI companies: Paradromics and Cognixion. With all of this progress, we wanted to get the Prime Movers Lab community up to speed on the latest technological advances with a quick primer, featuring our latest blog posts, webinars, and predictions from our Breakthrough Science Roadmap.
