Great panelists make the job of the host so easy, and these four guests did an amazing job going through the “layers” of additive manufacturing. Go watch it and let us know what you think the future of AM is!

Just some of the content we covered:

  • The fantastic, engaging group discussed a wide range of additive topics from micro medical devices to simplifying shoemaking to the macro-level economics of manufacturing that make you wonder — “Should it be cheaper to source parts from the other side of the world?”
  • We discussed the AM landscape from a variety of perspectives: John walked us through the history of AM, James took us deep into the future of AM economics, Caralynn talked through the amazing pivot point we’re at with customization for implants and eventually regenerative medicine, and Elias talked about the software and systems integration (and provided a great comparison between AM and an all you can eat buffet!).
  • We also went through the many views of material qualifications from end device use to long-term sustainability. How do you make shoes in a circular economy (hint… additive might be the answer)?
  • Overall, it’s a journey for the whole industry: from the applications engineering to the materials to the capabilities of the printers to the full stack integration. The keys to unlocking it: computer vision, ML/AI, computing power, post-processing automation, and a number of other things.

These four and their companies are going to do some pretty amazing things.
