Spacecraft launched per year has increased 10 fold compared to a decade ago. The growth is not slowing but accelerating as multiple “mega-constellations” of thousands of satellites rush to populate orbital real estate. Whole defunct satellites unable to complete their mission, relic spent stages of launch vehicles, and shards from exploded spacecraft propellant tanks and batteries are examples of millions of uncontrolled “space junk” whizzing in and out of valuable orbits. These objects can literally take out our space assets — and when they do, create even more orbital debris. The threat is growing more significant as life on earth depends upon infrastructure in space for services like telecommunications, national security and defense, global navigation, and weather and climate change monitoring.

Join us next Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 3 pm EDT / 12 pm PDT to hear from experts tackling this exploding problem.
