Financial advisors have been offering a host of opinions and perspectives on the economic outlook of 2023 in recent weeks. Our recent webinar took a look at the larger institutional perspective from UBS Investment Advisor Evan Bloomberg and the sentiment from family offices and private equity shared by the Family Office Exchange’s (FOX) Nathan Hamilton, as well as some points from Prime Movers Lab’s Executive Coach and Partner Michael Savage.

Our panelists focused on the impact that inflation is playing, and the panelists believed that the long-term impact may not have been fully felt yet. There was a frank discussion about the clear retraction of many investors from the markets, which shifted to optimism that these investors will find new opportunities in simple investment vehicles like bonds and that venture capital as well as private equity is highly likely to see deep investment from institutional investors and family offices.

While many would call this a financial winter, the panel agreed that these things are cyclical and that after winter comes spring. The consensus was to be mindful and invest with caution and seek opportunities to back companies and people that you can believe in. Prime Movers Labs holds an optimistic view of investment in deep tech and the founders who are solving problems beyond a single economic cycle. We know that valuations have adjusted and see founders and great companies coming to the forefront that deserve investment and support, and we look forward to a 2023 where we find bright, ambitious, motion-driven founders and teams to back.
