At Principle we always like to explore new possibilities when it comes to developing use-cases for our platform. One of such use cases is betting — that is why we decided to take advantage of the World Cup 2018 that is currently taking place in Russia. Principle explores more effective ways to validate decisions and resolve conflicts using consensus of the majority on the blockchain. It is especially useful for decentralized marketplaces, but can be applied to something as simple as determining the outcome of a bet.
Let’s say two parties placed a simple bet, but at the end can’t come to a conclusion who won. This is where Principle Protocol comes in, allowing anyone to put the decision in the hands of a decentralised network of peers, who validate the dispute and come to a general consensus.
Our World Cup 2018 betting dApp
Principle World Cup is an experimental dApp prediction game build on the Ethereum blockchain. Players are able to vote on upcoming World Cup 2018 matches, setting their own predictions and earning points for correct results. In the Knockout stage we aim to implement a dispute resolution option that will be based on the first alpha of the Principle Network.

We believe that betting platforms should be build with a resolution layer in mind, allowing users to dispute bets, if they believe the results are irregular. Such a system empowers the end-user and enables a sufficient level of insurance and comfort when trusting the platform. A prize pool of up to $5.000 will be distributed among top participants of Principle’s World Cup competition.
