[Android] v3.7.0 Update — Support for end-of-live broadcast status notifications on live platforms, etc.

hello! This is the PRISM Live Studio team.
We are happy to announce the v3.7.0 update of the PRISM Android app :)

PRISM Android App v3.7.0 contains the following features.

  • Support for end-of-live broadcast status notifications on live platforms.
  • Support for setting KeyFrameInterval in AdaptiveStreaming mode.
  • Support for the entire YouTube Scheduled Stream list.
  • Support of 1080p streaming to Facebook Timeline
  • Removal of Facebook game tag search and settings feature.
  • Other performance and stability improvements.

I’ll walk you through each feature in detail.

★ Support for end-of-live broadcast status notifications on live platforms.

During live streaming on the PRISM app, your live broadcast may be terminated on the target live platform.

The reasons are so diverse that it is difficult to list them all, but some representative examples are as follows:

  • A case where your broadcast was stopped on the live platform because streaming was not stable for a certain period of time due to an issue in the network.
  • A case where your broadcast was stopped on the live platform due to community violation or report.
  • A case exceeding the maximum streaming time limited by the live platform.

* You can find out more details through the Get Help button.

While streaming from the PRISM app to the live platform, the PRISM app checks in real time whether your live stream is stable or not on the live platform. And when the app determines that the live stream is not on Air, it will inform you via a dialog as shown in the image above.

If you see a notification like this, please check the status of the live stream on a separate device. And If your live stream was actually stopped, click the ‘OK’ button to close the dialog and then use the ‘End’ button at the top right of the app to end the streaming.

Please note that we will continue to add features within the PRISM app that will inform streamers of the live broadcast status on the live platform they are streaming on.

★ Support for setting KeyFrameInterval in AdaptiveStreaming mode.

The PRISM app provided ‘Adaptive’ and ‘Fixed’ options as options for the ‘Stream Quality’ menu.

And with the ‘Adaptive’ option selected, the ‘Keyframe Interval’ was fixed at 1 second, so you couldn’t set it yourself. However, in this update, we have improved the ability to set the ‘Keyframe Interval’ even when the ‘Adaptive’ option is selected.

Live platforms such as YouTube and Facebook guide the ‘key frame interval’ to be set to 2 seconds, and the PRISM app has adjusted the default value to be set to 2 seconds accordingly. If you’re streaming by entering RTMP information yourself, check what settings your target live platform is guiding you to.

★ Support for the entire YouTube Scheduled Stream list.

As one of the features for live streaming to YouTube, the PRISM app provided the ability to select and use YouTube scheduled streams. However, due to a performance issue in YouTube’s ability to provide a list of scheduled streams, only up to 5 scheduled lists were being provided.

Fortunately, we’ve now noticed that YouTube has improved the performance of that feature, so the PRISM app can now show all of your scheduled streams.

★ Support of 1080p streaming to Facebook Timeline

PRISM mobile app supports live streaming to Facebook. You can easily start streaming by integrating your Facebook account with just a Facebook login in the PRISM app. And you can use the PRISM app to stream not only to your Facebook timeline, but also to Pages and Groups.

Generally Facebook is known to support 1080p streams, but Timeline did not support 1080p streams until recently. The Facebook Live Room received the 1080p stream normally, but there was a problem with the stream not being exposed to viewers in the timeline feed.

Fortunately, we’ve confirmed that this Facebook issue has been addressed recently, so we’ve decided to re-enable Facebook Timeline 1080p streaming. And you can use that feature in this update, PRISM Android v3.7.0

★ Removal of Facebook game tag search and settings feature.

Users were able to set a gaming tag in their live stream to Facebook from the PRISM app. The PRISM app provided a game tag search function using Facebook’s Beta API, and the game tag selected by the user could be exposed to stream information on Facebook.

But unfortunately, Facebook’s Beta API has recently been discontinued, so please understand that the PRISM app can no longer provide you with the game tag function.

★ Other performance and stability improvements.

In addition to the main features introduced above, a lot of effort was put into improving the stability and usability of each part of the app in this update.

For example, the processing of authentication out of the live platform account was supplemented, the Android platform’s upper version OS response was carried out, and the stability of the live video auto-save function was supplemented.

We always do our best to make better apps, but there always seems to be a shortage. We will make the app with better stability and quality. Thank you :D
