A Transgender Woman Eating Eggs — a poem
Determined, she began a new life, the one she dreamed about.
The beautiful older Transgender Woman,
sat at her kitchen table in the morning.
She was eating scrambled eggs and
drinking orange juice from frozen concentrate while,
watching the morning news.
She could not sleep well at night.
She worried a lot, not unfounded.
The world was changing.
In a whirlwind of Transphobia,
she tossed and turned.
The new American President,
and his misguided morality,
along with his minions,
announced, “the lunacy of the transgendereds.”
“There are only two genders, male and female.”
All of her life she struggled.
She lived her gender in secret, in the closet.
One day, with great courage, she freed herself.
Determined, she began a new life,
the one she dreamed about.
The angry hateful government, well,
they wanted to take it all away. Never she said!
While eating breakfast she felt grateful
for the life she thought would never happen,
and others worried about the price of eggs.
